Japanese DMM start Cryptocurrency Mining Farm and Showroom

DMM Inc. the operator of the popular e-commerce website DMM.com with 27 million members, announced on Friday the launch of its mining farm in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The company explained:

In addition, the company has shown that its mining farm has “also been converted into an open showroom for our customers.” The showroom will feature 1,000 mining rigs. “We plan to open this showroom from the beginning of March,” DMM wrote, adding that “from mid-March, we want to achieve acceptance for tours for the general public.”

After launching in Japan, the company plans to build additional mining operations overseas. “Starting inland, DMM’s engineering team is directly involved in the operation to ensure quality and win the trust of local users,” says Fuji Television Network.

DMM has installed in its mining farm both types of mining rigs, ASIC and GPU, which allow the company to mine many different types of cryptocurrencies. DMM’s “ASIC machines were made [in China],” the TV station noted. “The ASIC machines are 650 MH / s (Mega Hash / sec), and the GPU machines are about 300 MH / s or less.”

DMM’s “ASIC machines were made [in China],” the TV station noted. “The ASIC machines are 650 MH / s (Mega Hash / sec), and the GPU machines are about 300 MH / s or less.” The news agency further noted that “the power consumption is 750W for ASIC and 1900 to 2000W for GPU” adding that the GPU mining rigs have twelve GPU cards connected to two power supplies.

DMM says it will mine various types of coins, including bitcoin, ether and litecoin. “We’re not particularly into bitcoins,” said Shinichi Takaguchi, head of the DMM mining lab, to Fuji TV, but pointed out that “apart from other coins, of course, bitcoins are also mined.” Depending on the market environment, he reiterated that the lab will reduce all cryptocurrencies that are most profitable at the time.

DMM also recently launched its own cryptocurrency exchange, which supports 7 different cryptocurrencies and 14 trading pairs.
